World Wide Knit in Public Day

Worldwide Knit in Public Day, Saturday 14th June

World Wide Knit in Public Day was started in 2005 by Danielle Landes. It began as a way for knitters to come together and enjoy each other’s company. Even now, with knitting groups meeting day-by-day in public across the country there's still never a better time to celebrate the social aspect of knitting. There's something irreplaceable about the experience of sharing your passion for knitting with like-minded folk over a drink or two!

London!

The Big London Knitty Treasure Hunt

IKL will be celebrating WWKIP Day by inviting knitters (and their non-knitting friends!) to take part in London's first ever knitty treasure hunt - we'll be sending you off to wander the streets of central London, following our fiendish cryptic clues, dressing up statues, hunting celebrities and knitting at some of London's most famous landmarks...

Routemaster

You will need...

...a team of 2 to 4 people, a pair of comfy shoes, a knitted garment per team (eg hat, scarf, shawl, jumper, gloves), a brolly in case of rain, a digital camera or cameraphone, a piar of 4mm needles and some random Dk yarn...(but we can supply these if your stash has run dry!)

If you haven't got a team yet...just turn up as there'll be space for you to join others or form a team...

London Eye

Anyone can enter, but you will need at least one team member who can knit a bit (surprisingly some of the challenges involve knitting in public). Entry is FREE but you can let us know you are taking part by emailing, or replying the threads in either the Ravelry group or Facebook group forums (just so we know how much cake and cider we need to stock up!)

Meet at I Knit London at 11.30am for a 12.30pm send-off...and back again for the after-hunt party and prize-giving ceremony around 4pm...there'll be some great prizes for the top 3 teams!
